Camp Randall Stadium, Madison, WI

My wife and I traveled to Madison this past weekend to watch our Alma Mater, Arizona State, play Wisconsin.  Therefore my first post will be about Camp Randall Stadium, home of the Wisconsin Badgers.

The Skinny:
  • Seating Capacity: 80,321
  • The oldest and 4th largest stadium in the Big Ten
  • The stadium consists of a lower horseshoe with sections from A through X, starting in the Southwest corner and ending in the Southeast Corner.  The South End zone consists of sections Z1, Z2, Z3, YZ, Y3, Y2, and Y1 from West to East.  The Upper Deck on the West side consists of sections AA through LL from South to North.  The East upper deck consists of the suites 6201-6261 and 7201-7261.  The Buckingham Club and Varsity Club are also located in the East Upper Deck.  For the sake of this blog, I will not talk about the suites or the club seats.  Primarily because I can not afford to sit there and , so I can not give you my opinion of the view and secondly, they are probably good seats.

Observations:
  • Sections A through I have covered seats from roughly row 46 or 48 and back.  While not certain, it also seems that sitting back in these sections might cause you to lose sight of some kickoffs and punts.
  • Sections EE through GG have covered seats from roughly 13 or 15 and back.
  • Most of section AA loses view of the Southwest corner of the south end zone and most of Section LL loses view of the Northwest corner of the north end zone.
  • All seats are aluminum bench type bleacher seats, no backing.  All seat number are in sequential order.
  • Away fans seemed to sit in sections AA and LL, no surprise, and the front of section W.

Check out this site for a Camp Randall Stadium Seating Chart.  This is the UW Badgers official athletic website.  I got a lot a great information regarding the seat numbers from this site.  You are also able to select a section and it will give you an idea of how your view will look.

Lastly:
I need your help.  If you have any insight on certain sections or seats or just want to comment on where you have sat before at Camp Randall and whether they were good or bad, please place a comment on this post and I will update the post with any new information.

  1. Front of Section W are tickets provided to the opposing teams athletic department. Student Section runs from Section P to L. These seats require a student id for original sale. If your not interested in participating in the antics of the student section, you may want to sit elsewhere.
